Minnesota: I work at a collectible store as a cashier. My employer just sent me notification that money was deducted from my paycheck because two customers wrote bad checks. He states he is taking the amount of money for these bad checks out of my paycheck because I worked the night they were cashed and did not initial the checks. Is this legal? One of the individuals who wrote one of the bad checks has been caught so am I liable for their misdeed?

Unless you signed an agreement to allow him to do this, and it would still be questionable, then what he did is not legal. Contact your State's Wage & Hour division.
