What is the name of your state? CA

I am no longer with my girlfriend. She is pregnant and lives in NY, and I'm in CA. She will give birth to my baby in couple months. Even though we're not together, I do support her financially during her pregnancy, and would also continue doing so when the child is born.

I do not know how much I'm supposed to give each month - and if she has to bring me to court, would I have to be in NY?

How does cross-states work in child support?

My response:

There are many facets to your question, and too many answers for each - - thereby spawning new questions from you which, together, would be too complicated for this limited forum. You would do well to speak with a Family Law attorney in New York about this matter, concerning support, visitation, custody alternatives, and many other areas you'll need to know and discuss - - all of which are dependant upon your current situation in life.

My response:

Whomever that "someone" is, is giving you absolutely incorrect thoughts and opinions. Your current question is one of the reasons why I advised you to seek the advice of a New York Family Law attorney, directly.
