I am the future Grand farther

My 21 year old daughter met a guy slept with him and ended up pregnant.
This found out my daughter was moving to Oregon and filed for custody of the unborn child and tried to make her stay in ca, she moved any way and now lives in Oregon where the baby will be born any day now.

Who has jurisdiction CA or OR i think its where the child is born but I'm not sure.

Technically, if the child is born in OR, then OR would have jurisdiction of any matters regarding the child.

However, CA judges have been known to try to assert jurisdiction over children conceived in CA, and have sometimes been successful convincing judges from other states into ceding jurisdiction.

I would suggest consulting an OR attorney ASAP. It may be in your daughter's best interest to immediately file for custody/parenting time/child support in OR as soon as the child is born.

Doesn't this sound frightfully like we've had this discussion with the pregnant woman herself????

ETA: If this is in fact the same set of parents, then dad has already filed in California, thus California has already taken jurisdiction because the judge has already ordered her and her belly back.

However, the CA judge cannot exert his jurisdiction over state lines, unless the OR courts agree that CA has jurisdiction. Which is why I think that mom needs to get it into an OR court, ASAP.

If this IS the same parents, Mom was given the order BEFORE leaving CA. OR will enforce it.

So on the court filings, the defendant should read "(mothers name) et al"?? LOL

LdiJ we always go 'round & 'round with this one. If a CA Judge/Court takes Jurisdiction with a Presumptive father case and issues an order...it's an Order. An EXISTING order ~ therefore, trying to run away to another state to 'swap'/avoid Jurisdiction is going to end badly. Regardless.
