What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia
My 17 year old son got a ticket for underage consumption 4 months ago in Forsyth County. He chose the pre-trial diversion program and successfully completed his last drug and alcohol class this past Saturday, Nov 7th. His last Forsyth County probation appointment is Nov 25th. If my understanding is correct, if he has no other violations of the law the Prosecuting Attorney will recommend the court dismiss (expungement) upon completion. Sounded great, my son took full responsibility, attended classes on time, did homework, community service, worked to pay the fines...obviously he didn't learn his lesson. He got another underage consumption at the school football game on Friday Nov 6th, in Fulton County! I am so mad and disappointed. He is disappointed in himself too. He's a good kid, respectful (both cops mentioned how polite and cooperative he was), good grades, bad choices. My questions, because it is two different counties, will the Forsyth County probation officer know of the ticket when he makes his final visit on Nov 25th? Are we out of luck? Thank you for your help!

Most likely yes. And quite frankly your son is looking at severe issues. His case will not be dismissed at this juncture. Your son did NOT take full responsibility -- if he had then he would have learned something and NOT been drinking again. Your son has issues with alcohol. He needs to realize that his behavior will impact his entire life.

Underage consumption 2nd time.

Can you please tell me if its possible for me to check his record, the same way the Forsyth County parole officer would, to see what is currently on his record?
I hate for this to be on his record for College applications. Since he is 17 is it possible to have his record expunged at age 18?

Thank you for your advise!

it is going to be on his record for college applications. It will not be expunged by then IF AT ALL. The biggest issue is his alcohol abuse. Seriously. There are many issues with this. What does he want to be when he grows up because quite frankly some careers are going to be extremely difficult if not impossible to pursue due to this.

Also, he will likely find a lot of his scholarship opportunities dry up as a result of his actions.
