What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Nevada
My 16 year old son was just cited for underage consumption - he was not driving, he was at a party that got broken up on a noise complaint. He knows his life will be changing dramatically but I am trying to have a leg up on just what he might expect from the courts. This is his first offence (second time having a beer), he did not receive a breathalizer, admitted to the officer that he had consumed beer. Court is six weeks away.

Any advise, shared knowledge would be appreciated. Size of fines? probation? community service? suspension of driver's license (he wasn't driving).

I don't know Nevada laws for underage drinking..

but I doubt his life will be changing dramaticllly... something like life in prision or death by lethal injection would be along those lines... you don't exactly get that for underage drinking these days.

I am sure he will have some penalties to pay but nothing long term life altering.

Dramatic is subjective, suspended from football for six weeks, grounded for two months, loss of home priveledges all seem pretty dramatic to a sixteen year old. He recognized he screwed up. What we are looking for is what will the legal system do?

Bravo to you first of all for being a parent! I assume you are the one grounding him and punishing him with the loss of home privileges. He may face loss of driver's license until 21 as well as community service and fines.
