What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina (Charlotte specifically)
So first, some background to the situation.
This happened a couple months ago on 11 September 2010. I am a college student (Asian, male, 20 - just throwing this in because a friend thought they were racially profiling) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and I was at a party in an off campus apartment. I had NOT been driving, nor did I have a vehicle on the premises. I had one shot about an hour before arriving at the party, and we were there for about 30 seconds before the cops/ALE (Alcohol Law Enforcement) rolled up. (so in hindsight they probably followed us right in. FML) I did not drink anything while I was there.
Anyways the cops show up and I calmly await my destiny as they ask for ID's. They split us up between of age and underage before checking our ID's and sending the 21+ people off. Everyone underage was breathalyzed, and I was the only one that was left behind to wait. They breathalyzed me three times before writing me a ticket, which states that I blew a .01. I complied with everything they said and didn't say a word other than to answer their questions.
So basically I'm just looking for some advice, because I have a court date in two days. (16 November 2010) I understand that regardless of my personal opinions of our laws, they are still laws and we must follow them. However, I still believe that such a small infraction should not have an adverse effect on my future.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
