18 yr old daughter received non-traffic complaint and notice to appear for underage drinking. A security guard took them out of the stands at a school function and asked if they had anything to drink. She admitted she had a drink before the game. She was not driving and did not have alcohol in her possesion. She was not given a breathalyzer although others were. There was a fine and of course many school penalties. My concern beyond the obvious is do we need a lawyer for the court date?

remember you are dealing with the scum of the earth..you know those ignorant ZERO TOLERANCE people.....

You have to defend your daughter against the worst kind of enemy, even worse then Hitler.

so of course you need a good criminal defense lawyer, and dont be cheap about it.

You are all over this board with nasty comments for all as I have discovered after perusing the site. Perhaps you have not had the good fortune to take advantage of some of the wonderful boards on the internet where people are anxious to help others and enjoy it. It can feel good to help another out with information, etc. I have had many good experiences. I was simply seeking advice on what to expect as I have not encountered this type of situation before and this seemed a place to ask a question. I am not condoning any behavior. Do I think zero tolerance for minors is good - absolutely, and extend it to everyone. Special favors to the wealthy who can afford lawyers, no.
Just wanted an objective opinion or a little advice on what to expect, what I thought this board was for. We're not all perfect but some of us feel entitled to keep working on it. Guess you don't have to.

I agree with you Cashews! I too came here looking for advice and encountered nothing but nosey opinions. I myself am not perfect and truly don't think I ever will be but yet I'm fit to live in this world as a society and have many good friends who don't pass judgement on my life. God says "lead us not into temptation" but he also says "ask and thall shalt be forgiven" God bless you and yours and I hope to find that new sight you referred to soon.

thanks pennie candee

thanks for your comments. My thought was that this might be a place to come to for a little education and a rather innocently posed question. I would have ignored the reply except that I read around this board a little and saw the same person ripping into people left and right. Obviously many asking questions on this board are involved in problematic situations involving some bad judgements. Seemed like a neat idea that folks might help one another out who have been through it, guess I'm a little idealistic! Take care.
