What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

Hi I am 18 and the girl I am seeing is only 15. We have been dating since July, and I have talked to her parents and they are okay with the idea of me dating their daughter. My question is legally what sexual contact can we have, neither of us desire intercourse nor do we plan on having it. However, everything I have looked up isn't clear or definite.

I know that kissing is legal but I don't know what else is. I am just trying to clarify this so I do not run into any problems further down the line. Any information or links to where I can find this information would be greatly appreciated.

There are several issues. I'm not going to look up the laws for your state - you can do that yourself. The following are general rules.

Sex is usually defined as penetration in most states. Some states have laws against sex with underage people. If penetration occurs, that would be a violation (note that if pregnancy occurs, that's prima facie evidence that a crime has been committed).

Then there are various rules about corrupting the morals of a minor or similar things. For those laws, heavy petting (maybe even light petting depending on the circumstances) might be sufficient to prove that a crime has been committed.

The age limits vary by state. Look yours up. In some cases, ANY contact with someone below a certain age is criminal. In others, it's only a crime if there's more than a certain number of years difference in age.

The real issue is that bf/gf relationships end all the time. Do you want to be in a position where she can charge you with a crime if you break up? I would not be pushing the limits in any way if I were you.
