I would like to know if I have some type of protection from my car being repo'd. I did not purchase nor was I asked about purchasing the insurance that will pay the car if I became unemployed. Now I am into the third month behind in car payment. I have been seeking employment, ready to work anywhere. I need the car to look for jobs. I was laid off, not fired. My unemployement benefits is over. Aside from the obvious (pay the car notes) is there protection against the car being picked up?
By the way I purchased the car brand new in 2002 it was a 2003 Toyota it was a 5 year payment plan :(

My response:

Oh, brother. Only someone from Georgia would ask such a dumb question.

Do the Dufus People grow on peach trees out there?

In case that was unclear to you...no. There is no way to protect yourself from your car being repo'd.

On a side note, I find it hard to believe that in 3 months you couldn't find a job anywhere including McDonald's. I know it isn't a career, but it is a car payment. Temp for crying out loud. You had other options besides waiting for the 11th hour.

For sure IAAL ( you make pretty good entertainment)
You of course were no help -so no matter you write from hence forward, it is useless and does not count as valid information-strictly entertainment- and as an FYI, the last peach that grew on the trees in Georgia was a sure likeness of your "momma"

Veronica-you are right, McDonald's would have been a great job. I forgot to mention when I became unemployed I was on FMLA, could not walk, used my savings to stay ahead of bills. Now that I can walk enough to get some type of job I am looking, yes even for aMcDonald's position. Since I am a college graduate, I do not think I will have a problem landing a job, but for now I was just seeking what I thought was advice to help prevent action while I am in the process of seeking employment. While I understand that any advice from this forum is at risk, for a moment I thought there was some intelligent responses.

What did I say that was unintelligent? You decided to NOT fork over the extra couple of bucks a month for the L&D Insurance on your loan and now your car is going to be repo'd because of it. There is nothing you can do about it except to somehow pay what you owe.

End of story.

It could be possible that bankruptcy might protect it. You usually have to have a job though - and Chapter 13 could possibly do it.
