My cousin has been receiving unemployment benefits legitimately for 2 months and he finally got a new job. He misunderstood someone's advice on "receiving unemployment benefits while working part-time". He thought you would just keep filing the same way as long as you work less than 32 hours a week. Thus, now he has received his unemployment check as usual, although he worked last week, but does not plan on claiming anymore and plans to report he is working on Sunday, but is worried about his mistake because he is being tried for other misdemeanor charges next month and he can not commit any crimes during the "waiting period". Should he be worrying? Is this a crime even though he miscomprehended what he should have done?
Thanks, looking forward to your input.
