What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

An individual works 2 full time jobs to make ends meet. One, is a union carpentry job that has frequent layoffs. The second job is full time minimum wage but covers health insurance. When he is laid off from the carpentry job, is he eligible for unemployment?

I say absolutely not but want to be 100% sure there aren't circumstances which would make it possible. Thank you.

In PA you can work part-time and still collect benefits in some cases. Once you apply and are determined eligible you get your weekly benefit rate. You can earn up to 40% of your weekly benefit rate in a part-time job with no loss in benefits. Anything after 40% you lose benefits dollar per dollar.

So for example if your weekly benefit rate is $500 per week you can earn up to $200 per week and still get the full benefit. If you earn $300 in a week, your benefit amount for that week drops to $400.

It never hurts to apply for unemployment. There is no penalty for being wrong and it does not cost anything but a little time.

ONLY the state UI commission can give you a 100% guaranteed answer, as it is very situation specific.
