What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? mass
I am in the construction industry . I have been laid off about 6 weeks now . about 3 weeks ago e-mailed my employer to ask about the statis of my family insurance plan . Today I received a letter from my employer informing me that my insurance ran out last month and I now owe them $620 to make up the shortfall of last months ins payment . Should my
employer have informed me that my backlog (of ins money ) was going to run out before making the payment ?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

I was just about ready to respond when I saw that the OP's state is Massachusetts. ;)

However, as one of the payroll people around here, let me ask, is this for COBRA continuation of coverage? Or is this back premiums for coverage when you were still employed?
