I have restricted driving privileges that allow me to drive only to/from work and support meetings. I will be eligible to apply for regular driving privileges in July (1 yr post conviction). I also have a monitoring device installed until Dec.
My current job will end in March and I have poor prospects for immediate re-employment (due to the economy, advanced age, etc.) aside from trying to freelance from home with no promises of financial return. My job loss will be reflected in the significant reduction in mileage reported to the DMV by the monitoring device. I will still need to drive to search/interview for jobs and attend support meetings.
I am afraid that my limited driving privileges will be revoked through no wrongdoing and, worse, that I will have to re-start the 1-yr clock on the monitoring device as there is no credit for "time served".
Is there anything I can do to prevent having my restricted privileges revoked and having to start the monitoring penalty phase over (the device cannot stay in the car unless I have driving privileges)?
