virginia,im self employed[restoration painter] i recently finished a job for a long time client,age83.his children are not happy.they are demanding copies of all invoices i gave their father during the job [approx 4] so that i could get a check for each invoice, these invoices detaied hours, work done, and materials used. they now claim their father does not have them, well he had them to write out the amounts on the checks and he filed them,he is a retired doctor.in fact,on the last check i got he wrote "thank you"in the memo space.he also gave me a $125 tip on a $5200 job.rare in this business.the children are also demanding my social security number. all checks are in my name.the chidren have been very nasty on the phone etc.im sick of this crap from what appears to be greedy children acusing me of being a theif of their soon to be estate.what am i required to do and how should i go about dealing with these nasty children.ps their father is now in a assisted living home out of state thanks

Restoration job.

If your client had capacity to contract at the time you contracted with him for the job and at the time he accepted the work, then the children have no legal standing in this. If that is the case, you can ignore them. However, if they have legal status to administer his estate, and if there is a question about his capacity, then they may have a right to look into this to determine if it was a fair contract and if the work was properly done by you.

So the first thing for you to do is to find out what authority they have for what they are doing.
