I am currently a student at the University of Cincinnati and have recently began to get involved in the Club Frisbee program. The captains of the team mentioned that the university has told them that they will be charging them $200 per use when they use a university field to practice on.

I checked the Student Organizations policy and it says that a privilege of a registered Student Organization is use of university facilities. I could not find anymore information pertaining to whether they had the right to charge an organization for the use of these facilities.

My question is whether they have the right to charge the club, a registered Student Organization, for the use of a university field that is open to all students. Here is a link to the University of Cincinnati Student Organization policy page: The University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio

Yes, they can.

You are also not allowed to use the President's office... though it, too, is owned by the University.

What is the practice for charging other organizations on campus?

What does your faculty adviser say about it?

Have you contacted the athletic department to inquire?

Are they charging it now, or have they said they are going to charge it?
