have been emailing everyone from the President of the United States to the Michigan Attorney General to the Better Business Bureau to the local newspapers to the United States Congress Speaker of the House to the Michigan Department of Education. I want my out of pocket money (over $200) paid to University of Phoenix returned as well as the grants that were paid from the Federal Government (over $12,000) to be returned.

What else can I do? Who else can I contact? I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau also.

First, I was told that I didn't have to purchase any books as they are all available online. This was also the reasoning that was presented to me as to why tuition is very high because all books were online. This was a lie. I had the purchase the APA manual, the Gregg Manual and other textbooks (which each were over $100) that were not available online. I attempted to contact the head of enrollments to get some answers as to why I was lied to but only received the runaround.
Second, I was also informed that the University of Phoenix was an accredited school and that I could transfer my credits to another school. This also was a BIG lie. I have over 20 credits and I cant do anything with them, because University of Phoenix is not accredited, to the point that you cant transfer your credits (as most Universities don't accept credits from the University of Phoenix). I have wasted my time and my money with credits that are worthless.
Third, I was told that the teachers were professors, they were real teachers! This too was a LIE. All of the "teachers" I had were no way qualified to be teaching. No one had a teaching degree, in fact my math "teacher" had a degree in computer technology. He never checked our homework. I know this because I tried him, IO turned in homework that just had the question to the problem wrote out and believe it or not I received full credit for these assignments. The other "teachers" I had used class time to brag about their own accomplishment and unfortunately I learned NOTHING. Now, I will admit that there is one "teacher" who actually taught the material, Dr. Anne Bowers. The other teachers: JANISSE GREEN, SARI ABROMOVICH, STEPHAN WERTZ and PHILIPPE ROWLAND, these people did absolutely no teaching as if you look at their profile they are in no way qualified to teach.
My experience at the University of Phoenix was to say the least disappointing. I feel I was ripped off, mentally, educationally and financially. Through Federal Grants the University of Phoenix has received over $12,000 just for 7 classes. Isn't that a bit high? I personally have paid over $200 out of my pocket. Since May, 2007 I have dropped out because I couldn't afford this school, their lies and I didn't agree with their teaching methods. I am still being hounded by the financial counselors as I have stopped paying them because of their lies to me. It took me almost 10 years to muster the courage to go back to school and this is what I get. I am angry, I feel ripped off and most importantly I am sad. I tried so hard to go back to school and really make something out of myself and this has happened.

It is well known credits from UofP do not transfer and had you spent any time online, you would have uncovered that. Professor's do not need teaching degrees to teach--they only have to meet the requirements of the accreditating board for the school. You have learned a life lesson for just over $200. Do your homework before you enroll.
