What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois
I am seeking advice about an incident with my university in Illinois. Two years ago my advisor/assoc. director of my program tried to take away credits of a class I had previously completed. Now she was told she had no such authority and had to let the credits stand, and at that time I had only one class left to take and I finished that class, however, the professor in charge of grading that class has not graded it and I completed that class back in Dec of 2008. I have asked them what is happening and neither of them seem to acknowledge anything. The professor said the papers were "around here somewhere", and he was busy, he will have it done in a few days. It has been more than a few days. I have repeatedly tried to get this taken care of and I am at my wits end. The first squabble and this has me freaked out beyond belief. The entire 2 years have been riddled with mass anxiety because I was scared this would happen. I do not trust her or the professor at all now and I am losing my faith in the university. I am afraid they would just look past this and do nothing like has happened to many people in the past and I am reaching the breaking point on my stress.
Should a person who has maintained a good standing in the university be made to feel like this? I am currently talking to the Ombudsman, however, I have no faith in the matter. I am really scared they would just fail me if push comes to shove and they would say something to cover their butts. What can I do? What should I do? I really need help here. I don't have the resources to fight these people, let alone the know-how.What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
