What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? california
I received an unlawful detainer on sunday night 7pm but it's in my mom's name i used to rent the house from her she no longer lives here and she lost the house on foreclouse. I went to court to file an answer to the u.d. they said I had to file add myself to the case. I been seeking free legal advice cause I'm unemployed and on public assistance, we tried to rent a move out but we got turned down because i'm unemployed we don't thave place to go and i need more time to save money and get a place to live. there's is this company called "STAY IN YOUR HOME" they say they can buy time before the case goes to trial, usually between 5 up to 9 months? is this true? they came over to my house and show me some papers from some clients but i couldn't understand it's all courts papers. they are not lawyer or paralegals. can u give me some advice how to answer this u.d. and can i still buy some more time? thank you.

Eviction for non payment in most of CA is pretty straight forward. What did you file in your answer? Where is the property located?
