What is the name of your state? Ohio

(Posting for a friend)

Unlicensed / Excluded driver moved car in driveway. Mixed up pedals or something and crashed into a barrier.

Will the comp/collision cover the car. I believe that the BI/PD goes with the driver but the comp/collision is specific to the car? Will it be covered?

Thanks

Not sure yet

He is going to call today, But if the car isn't going to be covered anyway, then of course there is no reason to put in the claim. Hate to cause any uprates if they aren't necessary.

IT just seems to me that collision coverage would pay out regardless of the driver but I'm not 100% sure

The whole point of making a driver excluded is that if you don't want to pay to insure that driver, then they insurance company won't pay for ANY damages caused by that driver. But you said that the driver is unlicensed. Usually you are not both unlicensed AND excluded. (Most insurance companies don't require an exclusion on an unlicensed driver, unless you mean their license was suspended at the time.) Which is the case?

My two children are unlicensed (under age) and excluded from my policy.
How was the driver related to the friend?

I write insurance in 20 states. I've never excluded an unlicensed driver. But, apparently there are companies out there that do that.

She's Unlicensed

She is in fact an unlicensed driver but because she is a household member and adult they wanted to exclude her.

She has never had a license in her life and she is in her late 20's. She is the wife of the car owner.

I appreciate the posts showing that companies do indeed exclude unlicensed drivers. Now I know why (OP's original post). More than likely the insurance company will not pay. That is what the exclusion form is for. Basically they usually say that under no circumstances will they pay a dime if the excluded driver is operating the vehicle for any reason. Not comp, not collision, not liab or uninsured motorist.
