What is the name of your state? Texas

Last July I opted to terminate my telephone service with SBC and signed with a Voice Over Network service. While with SBC I had an unlisted telephone number and was paying SBC for that service. Following my switch to the new telephone service, SBC published my telephone number in the Phone Book and began giving the number out for Directory Assistance.
What rights does SBC/ATT have concerning the publishing of private telephone numbers of people that are not their customers?
Thank you in advance for your advice.

Is your phone number unlisted with the new service?

It is not an option.
Then, they are reporting publically available information in their telephone directory. There's nothing wrong with that. However, you can write to them and ask them to remove you from said directories. Of course, this won't apply to books that have already been printed/distributed, but it will apply to future publications and online directories.
Contact the company and ask what their specific requirements are, just to make things easier.
