What is the name of your state? Florida

I need to find out what the laws are about unmarried parents traveling with children. My child has her father's last name but I want to go on a cruise which he will not be going on with me. We never went to court for custody. Is there a way that he can stop me from taking my child on vacation?

Is he on the birth certificate? If so, then you won't be able to get a passport for her without his signature....and within the next year or so passports will now be required for most cruises.

My family and I are going on a cruise at the end of November hopefully we are going to Mexico my son has his fathers last name (stupid on my part) He is on the birthcertificate but so am I the only thing I needed is the originnal birth certificate from the state the one with the seal. I was told there will be no problems with that. The father and I are no longer together and I'm going threw a travel agent who has been doing this many years. Have a great cruise!!!

My mom's a travel agent, and from my understanding, if the parents aren't together, but both on the birthcertificate, and if they travel alone with the children they will need a documnet stateing that the other parent it aware of it. Also if one of the parents is dead, you would need the deathcertificate with you. But I believe that is only if your traveling out of the contoury.

We've travelled to the Caribbean three times with our daughter. All three of our passports were examined carefully on a couple of occassions to be certain that we WERE the parents travelling with her. Especially going into Mexico and D.R..

You should bring either a NOTARIZED permission slip or a court order authorizing removal from the US.
