On November 4, 2000 I made a personal loan to a friend for $2,500.00 to help her pay the deposit and first month’s rent on an apartment. This occurred in the State of California.
I am a bit concerned about the wording of the 'promissory note':
"November 4, 2000
I received on this date $2,500 as a loan from Jon Doe.
$1,500 will be paid in full upon receipt of my rental deposit from Jill J. The anticipated date is November 16, 2000.
The remaining $1,000.00 will be paid in monthly payments beginning January 15, 2001. of $100.00 each month."
Signed Jane Doe (not related to Jon)

I put together an agreement in which she promised to pay $1,500 on November 16, 2000 and then (10) monthly payments of $100.00 starting January 17, 2001.
On December 1, 2000 she paid $100.00 by check instead of the $1,500.00, I have copy of that check.
