What is the name of your state? NJ

I worked for a hedge fund, designed equities trading strategies for the firm.

The principal wanted us to sign a contract, which includes the following:

"You shall execute all documents for use in applying for, obtaining and enforcing such rights on such proprietary information or inventions as the company may desire, together with any assignments thereof to the company or persons designated by it. Your obligation to assist the company or any person designated by it in obtaining and enforcing rights related to proprietary information or inventions shall continue beyond the date of the termination of the employment period."

Is this clause unreasonble, since I have to do work for them even after I left the firm. Would this cause problem if I find work with another hedge fund?? How can I change the terms to make it more reasonable???

Thanks in advance.

Unreasonable? Not unless you get reimbursed and have no scheduling conflicts.
