What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Mexico

Last Thursday I was driving trying to find a friends house at about midnight. I turned onto what appeared to be a normal street because it is right off a major street, has a street light and a high school is located on in. It is not some desolate dirt road or anything and I thought it would take me to the next main street. I was driving and suddenly my car flew into a dirt ditch. My airbags both deployed, the front end of my car was slammed up when it hit the ditch and was damaged. My neck and wrists both got hurt from the airbag which also cut me with the powder inside it. Looking at the street now, I noticed the street light became further and further apart making the end of the street completely dark. There is no "Dead End" sign or the red and white barrier usually there when a street ends suddenly. Even with signs, this street should have ended as a cul-de-sac. I think the city allowed this street to be really dangerous and want to sue for damages to my car. I needs some advice on this. Thanks

File a claim with the city.
When they deny it, sue the city for your actual damages.

Or, you could just let your insurance company handle it... (But I'm willing to be there's a reason you didn't think of that.)

wait, did you go off the side of the road, or did the road end and you kept driving? if that is the case, did you not have your headlights on? how could you not see this (street lights or not) and how fast were you going on a side street that you slammed into the ditch so hard?
