What is the name of your state? Minnesota
My landlord bought the twin home I live in around 1 1/2 years ago. I was given a lease but we never signed it. the unsigned lease says that I must give 60 days notice before we move out. We are buying a home and will be out no later than April 30th. I received word on March 6th that we had been pre approved. So I gave notice to my landlord. He is now saying that I HAVE TO pay for the mouth of May. In the state of Minnesota am I on the hook for May? I gave over 60 days notice. He is saying that I had a lease even thou I didn't sign it.

You do have written proof that you gave notice ? the letter with reciept from your method of delivery like a mail confirmation delivery reciept OR a certificate of mailing receipt ? those things help BUT yes let the LL prove to a court other wise, with out a written lease you are a month to month renter and as long as the notice was sent giving one rental period of notice you should be fine. DO make sure you have pictures to prove how clean you have left the unit when it gets to that time.
