What is the name of your state? Iowa
I have a sister-in-law who was having troubles financially and with drugs(marijuana). She decided to leave her state of Minnesota, with her boyfriend, who is running from the law, to move to Mass. While she was in Minnesota she had gotten help from the county and during that time got charged with food stamp fraud. She did have to pay the state back. After a couple of months I went to the county for help, to get FIP for her two children and found out that she had also applied for emergency FIP and housing assistance for all four of her children. The social Worker I was talking to informed the state of Mass. that she did not have her children with her.
Before she left she willingly temporarily give us power of Attorney over her two older children, who have no legal father in the picture. She said it would be two months. We got the power of Attorney on or around 2-2-08. So my question to you is should we hire a lawyer and go for temporary custody or is this some tihng I can file on my own? I am not concerned that the mom will come back for court Im sure she wont. what should be our next step?
Thank You very much for your help
