We have 2 children..one in middle school...one in high school. We recently moved back home to KY from AL. At which time, we rented a house in a major city until we could find a small farm in a neighboring county to purchase. We did this, but needed to build a house on it before we could move onto this land. We informed the school of this BEFORE our children enrolled. We informed the school of our mailing address in the major city, but told them we also had a current address in THEIR county and are buiding a house, so we wanted to illiminate moving our children TWICE and go on and put them in that school district. Now, after two thirds of school year is over, the school board now informs us that we will have to pay over $2,000 for tuition. NOTHING was ever mentioned to us when we could have made different accomodations for our children which would have been FREE. We want to fight this and want to know from an attorney WHAT our chances are of winning this case. Also, are we only going to win the case to eventually end up paying the $2,000 to an attorney? It looks like from here, that we will LOOSE no matter what.
