NH

Town says "bring home up to code" or we will mail you a "cease and desist notice".

Does town have to tell you what you need to do to bring home up to code?

What is a cease and desist notice?

If buying a home in NH and live in MA...best to hire lawyer in NH?

Thanks!!

Yes, so request a violation notice of each infraction supported by a code cite. And yes, hire an attorney in the State that the property is located in. You should also be hiring a contractor. I am of the opinion that this was not the first letter that they sent to you and this issue has been around for awhile.

So

does cease and desist mean stop and move out? or stop fixing?

I have to wonder about this town...all this is by word only...no letters or anything saying what is wrong with this house!! Ahh......

Thanks again Guru!!
