What is the name of your state? IL
An update for those of you that know about my situation.
Wow, what a weird, wacky thing fate can be. For months I have been agonizing that I won't be able to move out of state with my son. My ex & I went to mediation, got everything sorted out and I had resigned myself to being the NCP. I was DREADING moving, but with the economy the way it is, my only job offer was in another state and I'd have to move in August.
Fast forward to last week: I just found out that my company is willing to move me into a different job position so I don't have to move and I can stay in IL I'm so happy, I just can't put it into words.
I get to see my son everyday....yeah!!!!!!
And the best thing was that my ex & I kept things amicable between us when we developed the long-distance parenting plan, so there are no burned bridges to repair now that I get to stay. I'm only guaranteed to be able to retain the position until May, but I'd rather stay here and see my son every day than move 1,700 miles away for a guaranteed job.
Luckily I had the foresight to have the CO worded that if I'm in IL, then we maintain our current arrangement and that if and when I move to WA (insert long-distance parenting plan here.....blah, blah, blah). So, now that I've accepted the new position and I've got it in writing that I can stay on staff, should I wait to file for a modification in CS in May? I'll know by then whether I'm going to retain my position or have to find work elsewhere. (And hopefully, it'll be local and not out of state!)
I'm not overly concerned about the CS at this point because my ex has never been able to hold down a job and is currently unemployed again (surprise, surprise ) If moving had not been in the picture, he would have been seeking alimony for at least 2 to 4 years if I was CP, so I know I would have ended up paying just about the same amount either way.
I'm just so excited that I get to see my boy everyday
