What is the name of your state? IN

I need to find a listing by county in Indiana for Sexual Predators. I have reason to believe that my son has been contacted by someone that is a 'Predator' and I can't find this person's name in the state listing. The county I need is Shelby.

Thank you.

you can type in the persons name and the county there. Even if you don't type in the county, if the persons name is listed on this registry, their county of residence shows up with their information.

I was told by a police officer that this person is on the County's registry but NOT the state. I need to know what steps I can take if I can't find this person's name. Can I still file a complaint?

One would think that if he is listed in the county register he would also be listed in the state registry? What is your county?

Okay, if the police told you that this person is on the county sexual registry then that is all you need. Tell the police that this person has been contacting your child!

One more thing you need to do, check ALL state registry's to see if this person is an offender in these states also! I am sure we could all help you search in our own state if you want!

Now, I am NOT making light of someone being a sex offender BUT I do know that in many states lewd conduct such as urinating on a tree (Texas and others) can get you put in the sex offenders registry. Also getting caught with you spouse in a vehicle doing something people shouldn't be doing in a car is enough to put you on the list. It could very well be that this person isn't on the state registry because it wasn't a crime against a child

From what the officer told me, this person took some teenage boys (ages 14 - 17) to the drive in movies and molested them there. This person is using alcohol, drugs and money to coax kids. I told my son to stay away from him and why, but you know how inticing those 'THINGS' can be to a teen.

Shoud a complaint be filed?

I'm sorry, I didn't notice that you had mentioned Shelby in your first post. I did a search and the page for the Shelby County Sheriff's Dept. (where the link to county registers manytimes is) is not working for me...the url is shelbynet.net

When you got the info from the officer did you mention that your son had been contacted? If so, did he give you any advice on how to handle it?

Yes bambi, you need to file a complaint. If this person is on probation it is more than likely he is not to have contact with minors!

I was really hoping it was something little like him peeing on a tree, sorry.:(

Thanks, I tried that link on Sunday - I think it is an old link.

I believe his crime happened prior to Zachary's Law, therefore, not on the state registry, but the City of Shelbyville has listed him on their registry. I just can't find it on-line. This man has lived in the same city all of his 40 years (I guess except for when he went to jail). I don't know where he served his time.

Does anyone know if I have grounds to file a complaint?

Thank you all for your input. I have contacted the police to file a report. I hope I convinced my son to stay away from him.
