Wife and I are both US citizens. We both were in the military and stationed in Germany. That is where we got married. Was married for 13 years and have been separated for the past year.
Question is we are going to get a divorce I (husband) am now stationed in Texas and she has since moved to NC she is know longer in the military. We want to do a divorce kit but the kit says good in all fifty states. So since we were married in Germany how do we get a divorce?
Also I was told since we have three children and they are living with there mother I could not get a divorce here in Texas is that right? If that is right how will I meet the qualifications for a divorce in NC since I am stationed with the US Army in Texas?
Please help. Thank you in advance for the help.

Married in germany

You shouldn't have a problem getting a divorce in NC or Texas as far as the place of marriage is concerned. I to was married abroad and am getting divorced in the US. If you ever return to germany take the time to inform the local Rathaus that you are in fact divorced from her. Sorry I can't answer the children question in Texas for you. You could try Divorce.com and search for the answer, or ask a Texas divorce lawyer about it they will usually give you the answer for free.
