What is the name of your state? --- Nevada - I am creating a website which allows folks who have had bad luck with products, services, companies or employers. As an example, my wife and I recently had bad luck with the most horrible salad imaginable at a local Dairy Queen. On the website I want to tell the story, but am concerned about litigation if I use the store name Dairy Queen. I have for the time-being made a joke out of it and called the store Hairy Queen and altered the logo so it is no longer directly representative of the original.

Do I have to get creative like this or can I in stating factual references go ahead and use the actual name of the store, in this case Dairy Queen?

I recently resigned from a company. I am referencing company policy and actions I experienced and saw while working at this company. Do I have to get creative again and call this company SCAT or when posting references to the factual acts or opinions about what took place at this company, can I use the actual company name which rhymes with HAT (In a feline sort of way.)?

What about using images I took of the company vehicles, some showing signs of wear or misuse and some showing unsafe conditions of vehicles? Can I use those photos without worrying about SCAT seeking litigation?

And finally, what if others post similar stories on my message boards or website telling of their tales, experiences at their jobs, can they tell what company they worked for? Even name names?

If I get food poisoning at a local restaurant, can I state the restaurant's name on my website?

And the doctor who screwed up my wife' surgery? Can I tell her tale in a public forum and mention the doctor's name. HE SURELY DESERVES HIS CREDIT DUE in that case.

Any help you can offer regarding the liability/litigation associated with the publication of such details would be helpful.

Thanks!

before setting up the website, you should save a good chunk of money to hire the attorney who will need to defend you when the lawsuits come flying at you.

not that every lawsuit against you will be a winner, but do you have the time and money to defend each of them?

Is your website worth the aggravation?
