What is the name of your state? FL

Simple question really. I have or would like several companies or establishment names on my website for internet users to use services through me for them. One company has decided to send me an email asking that I remove their company name saying its illegal without prior approval. Is this true? Could I have a simple disclaimer stating: This website is not affiliated with or sponsored by any company name on this website?

Thanks for the replies in advance.
;)

If they have requested you remove the name then remove it.

Basically what you are doing without permission, is using their name for advertising purposes, for which, if you do not remove it, they will have a cause of action against you.

yup...all 2000 + :D . I provide a service really, and should just back track and get their buy in first. Just figured the demand would drive them to sign up with me

Well congrats. At least you didn't have to get sued to learn something.

Now, why don't you take those 2,000 names and write to them asking their permission to include them in your 'directory'?

You might be surprised at the response.
