What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? California My son and I purchased a car "as is" from a used car lot on June 22. The car is in the shop and has been for awhile, due to excessive overheating and leaks. We have been told that the repairs are going to be at least $5k. We purchased the car for $3500.00. Is there any way to either get our money back or have the used car dealer do something about this?

Simple answer is no.

You purchased the car 'as-is' and should have had your mechanic (or one you trusted) check it out before purchasing it.
