What is the name of your state? Texas
Need to know if I have any rights to regarding my used car lease. I know that I can just drop the auto off without a problem since it is not a purchase. I want to know if I am out of the money paid or if I have a chance of refund.
Did a short-term lease on a '99 Mit Diamante in September 2003. The seller is the note holder. The auto appeared fine on the lot. However, after driving it for a while, it appeared to have some problems with brakes slipping and noise coming from steering. I told the owners at the auto dealership. However, they stated that if I did not want the car I could return it to them, otherwise, I needed to keep the car for one year in order to get another from them.
I was becoming frustrated because I am paying so much for the auto $15000 + finance charges. I felt that since I was paying 2002 price for a 1999, they would do right by me on the mechanical part. Plus I paid the $2500 up front and 1000 in payments so far.
I finally took the auto to a very reputable auto repair place to get an oil change. It turns out that found the following:
REPLACE STEERING RACK 391.00 681.35 $1072.35
STEERING RACK $625.00 FREIGHT $49.00
AUTO TRANS FLUID QT. $7.35/quart
***
Serious Rattling Noise from Engine-------
FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT 120.70 120.70
REAR BRAKE PADS REPLACE. DID NOT HEAR ANY NOISE BUT PADS ARE THIN 85.00 74.92 $159.92
BRAKE PAD SET $74.92
REMOVE UPPER AND LOWER OIL PAN AND ROD CAPS TO INSPECT ROD BEARINGS, MAIN 748.00 395.84 $1143.84
BEARINGS AND CRANKSHAFT. INCLUDES REPLACING ROD & MAIN BEARINGS. 0.00
GASKET $56.00
BEARING SET, MAIN 185.28
BEARING SET, ROD 154.56
Also, I found out via VIN number check that the auto has been reported repossessed 2 times in 2003 (January & September). It was at the auction 6 times per VIN report.
It even shows repossessed 16 days after my purchase date. I don't understand that last repo report date.
