What is the name of your state? Illinois

I purchased a used car 12-13-02 from a used car lot. The car stopped on me 45 minutes later. I notifyed the dealer and they said they were not obligated to fix it, nor were they giving me my money back. What are my legal rights. This has not been 24hrs since I purchased the car.
Please hel me. ::mad:

My response:

Basically, your rights ended when you put pen to paper and when you drove the car off the lot.

You had, prior to signature and delivery, every right to have the car inspected by your own mechanic - - but, I gather from your post you never availed yourself of that "right."

If the car was sold to you "As-Is" (without warranty), then you're stuck with the legal doctrine of "Caveat Emptor" ("Let the buyer beware").

The car is now your sole responsibility and expense.
