What is the name of your state? Soon to be Maryland.

Since the Insurance forum redirected me here, here's my question.

Does Maryland prohibit insurance companies from using an applicant's credit history in determining whether they will cover you and, if they will cover you, what rate they charge? I read that there are some states that do, in fact, prohibit this.

Texas does not and, although I have not had an auto insurance claim in over 15 years, never been late on my premium payments, live in a small town and worked less than 5 miles from home, I am paying what I believe to be a hefty premium because of my credit rating.

Thanks.
