What is the name of your state? Massachusetts

My question is this:

I've learned that it is legal for me to use images of monsters such as Frankenstein, the Wolfman, and Dracula for profit as long as I don't call them by their proper name.

1. Is it legal for me to use an actual photo of boris Karloff as the Frankenstein monster on coffee cups and t-shirts as long as i don't say "boris karloff" or "frankenstein"? and....

2. Is it legal for me to use artwork of these monsters (again, wolfman, dracula, frankenstein) as long as i don't mention the artist or the monsters popular name?

Like I mentioned above, I received a reply on this board to a previous post about this subject, but need this clarification. I'm planning on using these images, along with my trademark logo, for profit. If I am incorrect, and can only use the images if i make then myself as an art form, then please let me know that as well.

Thank you very much,
Matthew
