usually how many days a Dad can get to be with kid after divorce; how often ..

California, is where we are living in now.

Guess I am going down to the divorce path.

I never want kid has no Mom, so ideally I want kid spend half time with me, half time with his mother. He is almost 5.

But seems her does not want to share kid with me.

Let's say I make a concession (does not mean I will), let she be the primary one, usually how often can I visit kid? In a year, how many days I can have kid stay with me? Can she or I can take kid travel overseas?

I know this is case by case, probably up to Judge. But I try to have a peaceful divorce, so try to get some idea first, for worst and best.

We live in California. There is no domestic violence, neglect, drug, alcohol, affair etc in family.

Thanks a lot!

Do you and mom both work? Who is the primary caregiver of the child? How old is the child? Who takes the child to the doctor/school/etcetera? What hours do you and mom each work?

Poster: Do you share these parenting duties? Many of us don't have a designated someone who is the "primary caregiver". Example: I get kiddo to school, Dad gets kiddo FROM school. I do Dr appts if they are AM, he if they are PM, and so on. We both go to conferences and school events. Most of our friends parent the same way.

I work, my wife does not, so my wife takes him to school. Kid is almost 5.

Thanks,
Well, then she is apparently the primary caregiver for the child, which means that she would have the advantage for primary custody.

Though it COULD be possible for a 50/50 arrangement DEPENDING on work hours and answers to my OTHER questions.
