utilities for tennats who don' live at leased property

four people signed lease for rental property. All parties involved were aware that two of the people would not be living at the rented property for 4 months. If the lease states renters pay utilities direct to utilitiy company and rent to landlord.The 2 parties pay rent but are they also responsible for the utilities while they do not reside there. Thank you
