What is the name of your state? California (So. Cal)

My husband recently filed Chapter 7 BK due to some judgements and wage attachments that were pending. In regards to current utility companies - can they also be named in a BK? My husband has a Southern California Edison bill that amounts to nearly $1500.

Its this much due to a big chunk from a transfered amount from a previous residence where he lived but it wasn't his bill, they just decided if he lived in the home at that period in time it was his responisibility. I sent in documents to try to get this transfer taken off, no luck.

Is there a way of including (amending) this current past due amount in the BK? If so, would SCE need a deposit to secure furture payments? or, Am I just dreaming that I can even get this bill cleared and have a clean slate? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

You can amend the filing as long as discharge hasn't been granted.
Yes, you can bk a utility but, be prepared to pay a monster deposit for new service.
