Hello, this is about an accident that happened 2 years ago. I hit black ice and spun twice, and stopped after hitting a utility pole, cracking it. The police report says she was going 10km under the speed limit, and that she hit ice, causing her to lose control and hitting utility pole. The utility company is now seeing us for 4800 for that hydro pole.
My questions for you are:
-Should I proceed with the court, and try to fight it, and if I lose, will I have to pay there lawyer charges, and the application fees?
-I did notice that all the documents have the wrong license plate number, could I use that to my defense in any way?
-I also noticed that in the break down of the bill, it shows that there were four workers at the site on a Monday for 7 hours, getting paid 100 dollars an hour, each. I think that ridicules, but could I fight that?

Thank you for your time, and hope to hear from you soon. What is the name of your state?

Depends on the state and the court. Some specific fees can be collected, others can't.

Are you saying that you will argue that it was not your car involved in the accident? If not, then its not relevant.

I also noticed that in the break down of the bill, it shows that there were four workers at the site on a Monday for 7 hours, getting paid 100 dollars an hour, each. I think that ridicules, but could I fight that?
That's cheap. You have an emergency repair of a pole by four skilled workers who brought their tools, vehicles, cranes to the site. If you want to argue that its unreasonable, find a contractor who will give you an estimate for removing and replacing a damaged utility pole next to an icy roadway in the dead of winter. If the utility company is within 50% of that number, expect the court to take their word for it.

Yet I think the most important part...WHO THE HECK IS IN TROUBLE?!? You, her, the both of you? Not that it matters, but who was driving? lol It really does no good to lie.

City equipment is repaired by city contractors whose rates are set by law. So no, you can't argue that the cost is unreasonable. I had an insured person hit a fire hydrant a few months ago and it cost $5000 to replace it. Large equipment is expensive.
