I moved from VA to Fl for a better career, however when I got here the job was more physical than I am able to perform. I have sole custody of my son, aged 7. Now X who moved to PA wants custody. He stated that I was to inform him and the courts 90 days before the move, however, I was asked to move here with only 2 weeks notice. Also..I did not know I had to notify anyone. Further, I attempted 12 times to contact X before and during the move. He was on his computer which tied up his telephone line. Finally I contacted him. We have a court date for Jan 3, 2001. I am unable to return to VA. What options to I have? ((Son does not want to live with Father wants to stay with momma.))

and you never heard of posting a letter ? First of all, you needed to inform the father 30 days before the move. Did you think you could just move his child without any consideration to him ? You excuse about the phone line will not wash with a judge.

If you are unable to return to VA for the custody hearing or represented by an attorney then you might as well start packing your childs bags.

You need to either turn up and represent yourself or get an attorney. For custody issues I suggest an attorney.
