What is the name of your state? LA

This isn't a custody question but I figured you guys were the closest I could find to experts to answer this question for me.

My 11 year old has been invited to go on vacation for four day with a friend. No qualms about letting her go because I've know the family a long time.

But I was wondering what, if anything, I need to do about the possibility of her needing medical care while away. Am I correct in understanding that a hospital will provide care in a life threatening emergency without our consent? Do I need to provide anything other than a copy of our her insurance card?

I always included a notarized letter giving the party permission to have my child treated.
