my wife and i are in alabama. we were married a year ago, our friend is an amateur photographer and agreed in lieu of being in the wedding as a bridesmaid would do our pictures and give us everything as our wedding present. when the wedding is over, she wanted to charge us for the negatives and the proofs. we have no problem paying for any of the proofs or the development costs, but she wanted to charge us $350 dollars for the negatives. we did pay for the "proofs" for about 120 + or - a few. we also paid for the film that was used to take the pictures prior to the wedding.

the only people that were there when she said she would do our photography was me, my wife (fiance' at the time), and the photographer.

she also did not proclaim to be a professional photographer and is not licensed as such.

is this a verbal agreement case, if so, what would be the appropriate route?
