I offered a verbal agreement to a private party to buy a vehicle based on waiting to hear about financing. Within 24 hours later I found out I got financing approved at a much higher interest rate and payment than I can afford. I immediately notified the seller that I could not afford the vehicle with the high interest and high payment and he says we have an agreement so you need to keep trying for financing. He just kept repeating that I have agreed to buy the car. Can he hold me to anything if there is nothing in writing? Please help! This is someone I work with and it's really a concern that I handle this properly.
