I am from Indiana. My organization began re-organizing in August and a coordinator position was created to organize four of our otlying sites. I was told I would be that coordinator (in front of several people) I was told I did not need to apply, I had the position as soon as we found someone to teach in my classroom. Well now in December, they say they are posting for the position and I have to apply and interview so I did and they now have decided to overlook me and look into "external" applicants! I needed this change of pace and now they are overlooking me--is that legal considering they previously told me the position was mine? Aren't verbal contracts legal and binding? Do I have any grounds for a legal suit?

I don't want to put words in your mouth so I'm just going to ask flatly, why do you think they did this? I can respond better with that information.
