I am in southern CA. In January 2001 I made a verbal agreement with a sailor to watch my two cars and send me money for using them, while I was deployed to Australia. The sailor was to send me paper work that would enable me to get the cars insurance coverage and give the sailor power of atty to handle any problems that may occur with the cars. The sailor never sent a dime, and yet drove the car daily to work. In April I could not wait any longer for the papers I insisted that the keys be turned over to the ships Captain. The sailor turned over the keys to the cars. (Sending them back from New York.) However, only one of the cars was found; The other stolen. Can the sailor be held liable for not sending the insurance paperwork to get the cars coverage or the cost of the car and/or the payments that were never made to me?
