Maryland - Yesterday I put a deposit and first months rent down on an apartment. No lease was available for signature. Today I have changed my mind and want to cancel the check for the money I paid. Am I within my rights? I had arranged to meet the landlord next week to sign the lease.

It all depends on what was your agreement with the Landlord.

And that depends on what can be proven in Court.

There is no such provisio in the L/T law such as a cooling off period.
If you did not sign a written lease then there is no enforceable contract.
