What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Vt. My brother owes a company some money for work they did. He started bankruptcy procedures, but, he has cancelled it until after the first of next year. Problem is this guy whom owns this company is coming to his home every other night pounding on his door and demanding quite loudly for my brother to pay him. Is this legal for this guy to do this? My brother called the police since this guy is getting more and more threatening each time he comes pounding on his door. What rights does my brother have to protect himself from this guy?

so, he reports the trespass to the police.

Other than that, (and without looking) if the guy actually breaks into the house, I presume your brother has a right to defend himself. If the guy simply bangs on the door and is a jerk, he needs to call the police and let them do their thing.
